The committee, which had the mandate to study "cancer care plan and management: prevention, diagnosis, research & affordability of cancer treatment" in the country, submitted its report to both the houses of Parliament in September. Its other recommendations include the ban on indirect advertisements of pan masalas, using funds generated by tobacco taxes on cancer care, expanding cancer registry to rural areas and linking cancer data to social insurance schemes.
