The Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services announced a special stray round for MBBS courses in 2023. With this, admissions have opened for 156 vacant MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu (50 seats were added to a Chennai-based deemed university, Vels Medical College and Hospital, based on the orders of the Madras high court).
