In a landmark order in a medical negligence case, the national consumer commission, NCDRC, has ordered a Nagpur-based ultrasound scanning and imaging centre to pay Rs 1.2 crore compensation to a disabled child and his parents. The firm has been held responsible for wrong reports of ultrasound on four occasions during the pregnancy, which resulted in the birth of the child with congenital anomalies.
