When a drug goes off patent, there is a significant price reduction and generics are made available at really competitive prices. However, the law of demand may not necessarily apply in the case of Sitagliptin. The price of Sitagliptin coming down to around 50-70 percent may not necessarily mean that the demand for the drug would increase proportionally.
