According to the local admission committee, the state had 4,000 seats in 2018-19, indicating a 78 per cent spike in the number of seats in five years — much higher than the 56 per cent increase recorded nationally for the same period. India has 1.08 lakh MBBS seats for 2023-24, up from 70,012 in 2018-19.
