Researchers said on Wednesday that a paraplegic man has for the first time regained the capacity to walk smoothly using only his thoughts, thanks to two implants that had restored communication between the brain and spinal cord. Gert-Jan, the patient, claimed that the discovery had granted him "a freedom that I did not have" previously.
