In March, the director-general of health services Dr Atul Goel sent a letter to the state health Secretary P Senthilkumar and Director of medical education Dr R Shanthi Malar saying the Centre’s medical counselling committee will conduct counselling for all seats in government, private and deemed institutions across the country. So far this committee had conducted counselling only for all seats in AIIMS and JIPMER, central and deemed universities, and 15 per cent of seats in state-run medical colleges under the all-India quota (AIQ).
