Mock drills to assess the preparedness of hospitals in the wake of a spike in COVID-19 cases are underway at several private and public facilities across India. The country registered 5,880 new cases and 14 deaths due to the virus. The Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, recently urged state health ministers to oversee such drills and stressed the need to identify emergency hotspots to ensure readiness of hospital infrastructure, ramp up testing and vaccinations, in addition to promoting Covid-appropriate behavior.
