New nat’l norm: Kerala may not get nod to start med colleges https://ift.tt/lYpsnLB

Issued as a notification dated August 16, the guidelines state that new medical colleges shall be sanctioned after evaluating whether they follow the ratio 100 MBBS seats for 10 lakh population. Kerala’s population is currently estimated to be about 3.52 crore and if the new norm is imposed strictly, then Kerala can have only 3,520 MBBS seats while the state already has 4,205 seats (2022 figures).
