In the midst of acute shortage of faculty caused by the sudden increase in medical colleges, the NMC’s new regulation on minimum requirements in medical colleges has stuck to slashing the maximum allowed share of faculty with MSc or PhD degree to 15 per cent in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology and to zero in microbiology and pharmacology, despite the ministry’s directive.
