Despite being operational since 2012, MJPJAY is yet to onboard major private hospitals in urban districts such as Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur. These hospitals have often been reluctant to join citing the disparity between the scheme's procedure rates and their individual operational costs. Notably, no major trust-run hospitals in Mumbai, such as Lilavati, Nanavati, Breach Candy, and Jaslok, have joined in over a decade.
